Hemorrhoids Remedy
Bleeding hemorrhoids require immediate
treatment and dietary changes in order to heal. Bleeding
hemorrhoids can be very painful and cause much discomfort to
the sufferer. This severe condition can affect the patients'
lifestyle as well constraints in physical action such as
driving. Those who suffers from hemorrhoids often seek medical
help. There are many medical treatment options for
hemorrhoids.
However, it is important to realize
that seeking medical treatment alone is not enough. It is
important to find out the cause of the hemorrhoids so that the
chances of relapse is minimal. Making necessary changes in your
lifestyles as well as diet can have profound effect in your
health and keeping hemorrhoids at bay. "Prevention is better
than cure" may be cliche, but it is true when it comes to
hemorrhoids.
If you have mild hemorrhoids, you should start making positive
changes to your diet now. If you are suffering from
hemorrhoids, or you have just had your hemorrhoids removed, it
is not too late to change your lifestyle and diet. The last
thing you want is to go through painful hemorrhoid surgery.
Making healthier choices in your diet should be your priority.
Here are some healthy choices you can make to keep hemorrhoids
at bay:
1. Drink more fluids
We all know about the advice of
drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day but many of us just
do not do it! Many of the hemorrhoid patients admit that they
do not drink even half of the recommended amount of water.
Instead of water, they drink coffee, carbonated drinks, and
artificially sweetened juice. Coffee lovers, especially, have
to pay attention to their daily water intake, as coffee is a
diuretic and will deplete water from the body. Therefore,
coffee drinker should consume even more water then
recommended.
2. Increase intake of dietary fiber
Lack of dietary fiber is the main
reason of hemorrhoids for many sufferers. In the world of
processed and fast food, fiber is constantly forgotten. Simply
include more vegetables and fruits in your diet and you will
notice the ease of bowel movement, and thus reducing
hemorrhoids. Good sources of fiber include: legumes, oats,
potatoes, barley, whole grain foods, bran, nuts, seeds and
beans. If necessary, fiber supplements, such as psyllium husk,
inulin and vegetable gum, can be taken to increase daily fiber
intake.
3. Lead a more active lifestyle
Lack of exercise is one of the
contributing factor for hemorrhoids. With so much automation
and gadgets in our lives, people are getting lazier. Sedentary
lifestyle and long sitting period worsen hemorrhoids.
Therefore, it is time to get up and move around more. We are
not talking about vigorous exercise routine here. We are
talking about simple daily routine such as walking up the
stairs instead of using escalator, or walking to the
neighborhood store instead of driving.
4. Avoid wearing tight clothing and underwear
These will cause irritation and poor
muscle tone, thus encourage the growth of hemorrhoids. Try
wearing light weight underwear or go without one if you are at
home.
5. Stop indulging in unhealthy habits such as smoking and
drinking alcohol
Both of these vices is the major
contributing factor, not only worsen hemorrhoid but detrimental
to your health in general.
